Augusta National
Analysis Task:
Find an aerial photograph of any hole at Augusta National. Using the vocabulary from Lesson 1 and MacKenzie’s principles from this lesson, write 4-5 sentences analyzing how the hole appears to embody or depart from MacKenzie’s design philosophy. What choices do you see that reflect his principles? What modifications might have changed what he originally intended?
Parent-Teacher Note:
The analysis task requires your student to apply vocabulary and principles to visual evidence — a genuinely challenging but important skill. Google Earth satellite view of Augusta National works well if printed aerial photographs are not available. Encourage your student to use the specific vocabulary from Lesson 1 (tee box, fairway, hazards, green) when writing their analysis.
