Golf history at Stage 2 builds structured knowledge through research, timelines, and written analysis. Students trace the sport from its contested origins and the first written rules of 1744 through the equipment revolution, the founding of American golf, and the television era that made Palmer, Nicklaus, and the modern professional game.

Each week combines reading, light research tasks, and written work — a newspaper front page, a biography, a data chart — that develop both historical knowledge and communication skills. The course culminates in a ten-minute research presentation on a student-chosen topic, introducing the skills of argument and evidence that Stage 3 will develop further.
